Rapper Mac Miller’s family revealed that they will be releasing a posthumous album of the musicians’ unfinished music. The album, titled Circles will be released one year after his untimely death. Miller was found dead at the age of 26 in his home in San Fernando Valley on September 7th, 2019. His death occurred just one month after the release of his acclaimed fifth studio album, Swimming. The cause of death was later determined to be due to mixed drug toxicity....

Update: Apple is pushing a new security update to remove these webservers too. The Mac webcam hijack flaw discovered in the Zoom video conference app is also present in RingCentral and Zhumu. The evidence also suggests that the same vulnerability will exist in other Mac video conferencing apps … Apple pushed a silent security update to macOS to remove the local webserver installed by Zoom, but it does not remove those installed by RingCentral and Zhumu....

Update: Zoom says it has a series of updates planned to address these security concerns. A new zero-day vulnerability has been disclosed for the Zoom video conference app on the Mac. In a post on Medium, security researcher Jonathan Leitschuh outlined the flaw, which could let websites take over your Mac’s camera. When you install the Zoom app on your Mac, it also installs a web server, which “accepts requests regular browsers wouldn’t,” as detailed by The Verge....

Apple’s SSL certificate that is responsible for verifying and authenticating connections to Apple’s Mac App Store software update servers has expired, causing the Mac App Store to issue errors like those above. Another error notification points to the swscan.apple.com server as being the issue, below. A quick search shows that this SSL certificate expired yesterday May 24th at midnight. Third-party app updates appear to be working — I was able to update three different apps, though I did encounter the above issue....

We’ve so far had a variety of predictions about when we might expect an M1X MacBook Pro launch. The latest ChangeWave consumer survey confirms a decline in US consumer spending – and suggests Apple may take a hit on its Mac sales as a result. Among respondents who bought a computer over the past 90 days, 23% say they bought an Apple laptop and 17% a desktop – down 1-pt and 2-pts respectively from the August ChangeWave survey. A little less than a week after the fourth beta, Apple has today seeded macOS 10.14.1 beta 5 to developers. The new beta includes support for Group FaceTime, among other improvements. macOS Mojave includes an all new Dark Mode, Home and News apps, and more. The release is available on most Macs from 2012 and beyond. It’s available as a free download to eligible Macs. macOS 10.14.1 will likely address initial bugs reported in macOS Mojave as well as introduce Group FaceTime out of beta....
