Dropbox announced today that Mailbox, the popular gesture-heavy email client it bought last year, will soon be launching a desktop version of its software. The company also announced a set of new features like Dropbox account sign in and syncing and delete automation coming soon to the iPhone and iPad versions that will debut first in a version available for Android; this marks the first time the email software will be available on another platform aside from iOS as Mailbox is available on the Google Play Store today....

Apple’s latest major Mac operating system, macOS High Sierra, has seen more than its fair share of bugs. These aren’t minor bugs, either. Previously, there was a bug that allowed any user root access to your Mac because the system accepted a blank password attempt. Yet another security bug has been found in the operating system that allows users to access the passwords to encrypted APFS external drives. While not as simple nor obvious as the root bug, passwords can be revealed with a simple Terminal command as of macOS 10....

When macOS Mojave is released later this fall, the operating system update will drop support for the Back to My Mac iCloud feature that lets you network with other Macs remotely. In place of Back to My Mac, Apple recommends iCloud Drive, screen sharing, and Apple Remote Desktop. Back to My Mac has been absent in macOS Mojave developer and public betas, and Apple details the transition in a support document dated earlier this month....

The Enterprise Desktop Alliance has published survey results which claim that Macs will be the fastest growing systems in the enterprise through 2011. The EDA claims tech purchasers now see the Mac as more productive machines, and are finding tools to integrate tham into existing networks. Macs will climb from 3.3% of all systems in 2009 to 5.2% in 2011. Those figureds may be small, but the survey also claims 25% of all new systems to be added in the enterprise will be Macs....

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, many people are now working from home and students are learning remotely.
